Why should you get a Blackberry with NO Data Plan?

You Shouldn't! Plan and simple. Anybody who purchases a Blackberry device without paying for a data plan is just wasting his or her money for no reason. Every good thing the Blackberry offers has to do with it's great data plan and internet access. The only possible reason I could imagine anybody buying a Blackberry without any type of data plan included is to show off to their buddies that they got a Blackberry. Now showing off to people that you got one might be good in the eyes of others, but for you there is no real benefits. All you are doing is wasting your money to get a basic PHONE. Without a data plan your Blackberry will only do for you what any ol' $50 phone can do.

Do I need a data plan to get email or internet?

Yes, without a data plan all you have is phone, SMS, and PIM services. You CAN NOT access the internet or e-mail from anywhere. If your Blackberry has WiFi, you can connect to the Internet through a wireless access point ONLY (a router at home, etc.) only when it is in range. But that defeats the point of using the internet because if you are using the internet via Wi-Fi that means you should have a laptop or computer around you to use instead of your phone. Thus it defeats the points of using your phone on Wi-Fi. 

With NO data plan you may:

-make phone calls

-send and recieve SMS (text messages)

-use the device as a stand alone PIM

With NO data plan you CAN NOT:

-access the internet.

-use any type of known Instant Messanger on your Blackberry

-watch videos or load any type of graphics on your Blackberry

Long story short guys, IF your buying a Blackberry, PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR A DATA PLAN!

Without one ALL YOU REALLY HAVE is JUST A PHONE. That's it.
